Homework Supervision

HOMEWORK SUPERVISION

Offered every weekday (excluding public holidays) for Primary school students, Homework Supervision is a quiet study program where students can read or do homework. This activity is not a tutorial but provides skilled supervision by teachers to help students concentrate and get work done on their own. The pupil-teacher ratio in Homework Supervision is around 12:1.

The supervising homework teacher is there to encourage good work habits, organization and neat handwriting and presentation in a safe and quiet environment; provide assistance by explaining problems and reviewing material; and encourage students to complete their work in a timely manner.

The supervising homework teacher cannot be expected to provide one-on-one tutoring.

Homework supervision is not designed to address recurring problems with homework. Parents, classroom teachers and homework teachers can work together to develop a strategy to address this issue, but homework teachers cannot be expected to indentify problems or develop strategies by themselves.
